What's up networkers on Go211?
We ended up winning the MLL champioship last weekend in Boston. We were fortunate enough to beat a tough, experienced team in Philadelphia in the semi finals, then went on to beat Denver in the finals. It was kind of anti climatic, because Colin Doyle and I had to catch a flight back to Toronto immediately after the game. We grabbed a quick dinner and few celebratory drinks with the boys (oddly enough at the Stock Yard, a bar owned by a buddy who I used to play hockey with, awesome prime rib!)---then jumped on a 6;55pm flight back to TO.
Boston is one of my favorite cities and the venue at Harvard is awesome. The stadium resembles an old roman collesium. My family were able to attend the games on the weekend and during down time, we enjoyed touring Quincey Market, Harvard Square, and ate a few meals in the North side of Boston, which is an Italian district, filled with awesome restaurants. Being a big italian food fan, I was in heaven!
It was a quick turnaround, having another playoff game scheduled on the tuesday night after championship weekend. It was game six of a best of seven series against our rival Peterborough Lakers. For those of you that do not know, the Canadian Lacrosse League is an indoor league that many Canadian NLL players play in, competing for the Mann Cup. The Mann Cup is the pinancle of lacrosse in Canada. It is lacrosse's biggest kept secret. The league has some of the best players in the world, yet teams play in small arenas infront of a modest fan base. It is a great opportunity to play with guys that you grew up with and compete for a trophy rich in tradition and pride. I encourage any lacrosse fan to come up to southern Ontario to check it out, you will not regret it.
Next week marks the start of the our third year at The Hill Academy. I'm really excited to meet and get to know a new crop of young student athletes!
I will check in again soon.
