packing. going to Santa Cruz for the coldwater Classic Nov 1, 2009
Pumping Portugal (Tue, 18 Mar 2008 Posted at 12:10:20 PM)
Just got home from Portugal and scored all time beachbreak. I got a last minute call from Surfing Mag that the forecast is looking good and we need to u leave tonight to get over there in time for the swell. So I was on a plane that night with Killian Garland, to meet up with Photographer Jeff Flindt and Portugals own Marlon Lipke. Marlon had the swell dialed in and had it all maped out on where we needed to be to get the best waves of the swell. He totally dailed in. Perfect offshore barrels with only a couple guys out. Aqua blue water, hitting this perect little sandbar at a place they call supertubes for a reason. Its was one of those sessions that i will never forget. Maron your a legend!!!!!! If you ever get the chance to go over there dont pass it up. the place has so many different type of waves. World class Point breaks, perferct beachbreaks. Heavy reef slabs, and wierd little side wedge waves. Any time you see one of those northeasterns coming of the states and into the Atlantic you know the swell is going to be headed straight for Portugal. The place really reminded me of Central Cali, its actually about the same Latitude as California. So the weather is a lot milder than the rest of Europe. The food is epic, lots of fresh seafood. Really good bread of cheese of course, and the best expresso for the early morning sesons. thier wine is damn good to after a long day out surfing, man I love that place. Abrigado Marlon and all the portugese boys
