Just got back from a month on the road of the W.Q.S. ( World Qualifying Series). The first stop was Western Australia. We got really good waves and had a sick crew of guys. The trip included Austin Ware, The Guadaskas Clan, and Mike Losness. We were there for 2 weeks and the contest started the second week. We got there a week early to practice for the contest and the waves were pumping that whole week. We had some classic moments over there and some how I racked up $700 dollars in tickets in less than 4 hours.

It all started early in the morning on the way to go surf. The waves were supposed to be really good so I was a little anxious to get down there. When the contest is in town they bring in extra cops to keep it mellow. I went through a speed check point and got pulled over. I was going 10 kilometer over the speed limit which is about 5 miles an hour over. I tried to talk my way out of it being I was a competitor in the contest and also not being from there. He didnt care and proceeded to give me a long lecture about respecting the road...... 2 hours later I was on my way to the internet cafe to get on the web. On the way there a friend called so i anwsered the phone. When i pulled up another car came flyin up and this guy comes charging at me. He ended up being a cop.He asked for my license and I realized I left it at home which was just up the street. I almost got arrested for not having identification. I told him that my wallet was at the house right up the street so he followed me there. When we arrived he was furious at me and said, " mate do you know how to use a blinker?'' I answered yes and that i was using it. He replys, " yeah mate but not soon enough, you need to turn on your blinker at least 30 yards before you turn. You were also going 38 in a 35 zone." I couldnt believe he was serious but he sure was. I ended up getting 3 different charges. Talking on the cell phone, not signaling, and driving without ID. He said," mate your lucky im not writting you up for speeding and that im not going to take you to jail over for reckless driving." thanks.....

Moral of the story... drive like a grandma over there or you are going to get *@#**$.
