About Us
Shane Cooley is a 21 year old singer/songwriter in genres of rock, Americana and alt country who is on a nonstop road to success. For the past eight years, Shane has performed his library of over 150 original songs in many venues, from large festivals attracting 75,000 people, to intimate songwriter showcases, up and down the East Coast. His recording career includes 5 home-recorded and 6 studio CD's that have received a great deal of radio airplay from regional stations to XM Satellite Radio, as well as being a favorite among the press. Shane is a junior at the College of William and Mary and is currently seeking a label.

In 2005 Shane recorded Flying Naked with producers/musicians Chris Keup and Stewart Myers (Lifehouse, Jason Mraz, Mandy Moore). Chris Keup, who worked with Shane on the preproduction of this album, as well as the platinum debut of Jason Mraz, said, "Shane Cooley writes strong songs with nice hooks and is very dedicated to his career." Over the years, Shane has also developed a working relationship with national producer/songwriter/recording artist Steve Bassett who had this to say: "I met Shane Cooley a couple years back...he is an artist committed to his craft and his positive outlook and drive will take him where he wants to go. When you see him perform, you'll see what I mean." Bassett performed B-3 Organ on Flying Naked. The album was mastered by audio guru Fred Kevorkian (Dave Matthews Band, The White Stripes, Ryan Adams) at Avatar Studios in New York City.

The songs from Flying Naked received a great deal of radio airplay and attention in the music and television industries. "Don't Want to Be in the City Tonight" was featured on the IFC show The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman. Another song, “Dreams and Aspirations” has been recognized for its uplifting lyrics and energetic beat, and was used as the soundtrack for various conference presentations, photographer slideshows, etc. Recently a company called Disaboom chose the song for its national infomercial. Shane also aired music videos for these two songs on New York television.

In the fall of 2007, Shane returned to the studio to create his latest and strongest release, Whirlpool. Dealing with heartbreak and personal challenges, Shane worked hard to create an album that comes together as a story rather than a collection of songs. The songs in Whirlpool are filled with catchy hooks, intelligent lyrics and raw power in the vein of Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and Tom Petty. Whirlpool was again produced by Stewart Myers and recorded with the same all-star team of musicians. Tim Bradshaw, who currently plays keys with John Mayer of his Continuum tour, and Sons of Bill guitarist Sam Wilson also joined the lineup.

The Shane Cooley live show has gained acclaim for being energetic, mesmerizing and unpredictable. Performing from New York to Nashville both solo acoustic and with an electric band, Shane has become an expert at engaging the audience and playing a completely different show each time. During his 2007 tour he shared the stage with headliners such as Carbon Leaf, Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Scaggs, and Tim McGraw.

Shane also uses his music career to help in the community as well as be a mentor. The past three years, Shane has created his own charity drive and worked with 105.5 WRAR FM. The "CDs For Christmas Drive" collected CD's and CD players that were donated to needy children during the holidays. In the wake of September 11, 2001, Shane dedicated a song he wrote, "Live On USA", to raise money for the Red Cross Relief Fund of America.

Currently, Shane is shopping his music to record labels with high hopes. For a young artist, Shane has developed a strong resume' as an experienced artist with a will to go as far as he can. Shane Cooley writes songs with lyrics you won't forget, and has an unbreakable drive. Give him a listen, he's only going up.
