Good morning Kashmir. Wow, it’s still snowing, imagine that! I wonder if my bag will show up today? I’m starting to get really nasty here after a couple of days of building and riding hard. We set out around the same time as yesterday, 9:00 am. Still completely socked in with heavy clouds and snowing a little less than the past couple of days, but still coming down pretty good. I would say that since we’ve been here it’s snowed at least 5 feet at our hotel. We haven’t even been able to head up to the top of the mountain yet, except the one run.
We started the day off, building some jumps before we head down to Tanmarg, which is the town at the bottom of the mountain, in the valley. Ryan and Chad built two jumps of their own today, and James and I built a road gap right near their jump. Chad and Ryan were done pretty quick and decided to hit it on the spot. James and I had some building issues and spent twice as long on our jump but are confident it’s going to be perfect. We are going to let it sit overnight and set up so we can do it in the morning. Now it’s off to Tangmarg!
The ride down to town was pretty cool. Lots of pow everywhere. Everyone hooted at least once! Then we got down to the town and shredded the road down weaving in and out of people, and military trucks and monkeys! Okay, not really monkeys but that would have been really cool! We ate lunch in this small restaurant, which was very good. We all had this new tea called Kashmir Kawaa. It tasted like cinnamon toast crunch cereal! This was the BEST TEA EVER! I gotta find this stuff before I leave, so I can drink it at home! And for lunch, again butter chicken! It was a little weird, chicken on the bone, and looked a little different… a.k.a. Sketchy! But we dove in… “When in Rome.” Right? Or in India, for that matter. It was really good of course, but made the tummy fell a little off for the rest of the day.
After our lunch session, we thought it’d be cool to check out this tiny town. So we went over to the ONE street where the market was and just walked around. Not a ton to write home about but very cool to see regardless. There were snow monkeys running around town and people were completely used to them chillin. It was crazy, seeing them run up and on houses, going in and out of houses and buildings. Then as we took some photos of them, a bunch of kids rolled up to us and asked for tips, for taking the pics of the wildlife. WHAT? Tip, for us taking photos of stuff that’s just running around town? I’m very confused about that. Now it’s time to head back to the hotel and hopefully get my bag, which hasn’t shown so far.
The ride back to the hotel took us about 40 minutes. NO BAG? WTF MAN? Starting to get just a bit irritated here! Good night, I’m out for the night.
