yeah, you guessed it... I was in Vermont not too long ago. I was there finishing out the competitive season with the final CHEVY grand prix and the US Open. Vermont is an interesting place. Spring there can bring anything from -15 degrees, to a couple inches of rain, to a few feet of snow. Oh and every once and a while, SUN. This trip was just great because I had the pleasure of experiencing almost all weather VT has to offer. The first day at Killington, for the GP, was a pretty nice sunny day. However, it was pretty cold. Oh and all the trees were covered in ICE! Obviously it had rained the day before or something, but it was really cool riding with everything covered in the ice. It reminded me of good old Minnesota from when i was a kid. The pipe here was not in tip top shape though. So it was pretty difficult for everyone. Me especially, because i was still very sore from my fall at Vans Cup a week earlier. Anyway, pretty much all the usual suspects made the final. But when we made our way up for the night final, the entire mountain was enveloped in fog! So we waited and waited and waited, and the fog never lifted, so all the riders decided to do the finals the next day. Everything ended up okay, but i didn't make the podium, which was fine because i was really pumped that i could throw tricks in my condition.
US OPEN! Again, another sub par pipe for this prestigious season ender. They tried for a 22 ft pipe here and was more like a 20. So the transition was a little off at the start of the week. Oh and the lip/walls were laid back just a bit too much. So for me this was pretty scary since at Vans i fell on the deck, so i was particularly cautious for this one. Though i made finals again, I couldn't put it together for the 3 run final, and Shaun ended up winning again. But now i'm just chilling back in Breckenridge, taking it easy and trying to get back riding again slowly. From here on out i'll be closing out the year trying to get photos, video and just have a good time in the nice spring conditions here in CO. So i'll check back in soon. later.
