Since i've last written a little ditty on here, I've been extremely sick during and for a week after the Dew Tour in Northstar. I got home and didn't leave my house for at least 5 days. It was horrible, I'm pretty sure it was the flu but not totally sure. But now I'm feeling much better, thanks for wondering! Anyway Since then I headed to a place called La Molina, which is in Spain, north east of Barcelona. This was the most amazing trip! The weather was just amazing! Sunny and 55 degrees every day! It was totally spring break '09! We were outside in shorts and tee shirts pretty much everyday after riding! Just wrap your brain around that! The riders who were there with me included Scotty Lago, Louie Vito, Greg Bretz, Zack Black, Danny Kass, Elena Height, and Ellery Hollingsworth. So it was a pretty nice little crew that attended. We definitely had a pretty good time together. We were there at a FIS world cup, trying to secure our US Olympic spots for next year. So that we are able to have 4 riders each (men & women) in next years Olympics. And we totally nailed it! Louie ended up 2nd, I got 3rd, Greg got 4th, and Zack ended up in 8th. So we totally crushed the quota spots for team america! Now, the hard part will be next year making the team!
After the comp we rushed to the hotel, packed and booked it to the train to Barcelona for the night. It was a 2 and a half hour train ride to the city center and we had an amazing time digging in to my congratulatory podium ham. Yeah, that's right! HAM! For making the podium we got giant pig legs... hooves included! And we totally dove in on the train ride, using nothing but a pocket knife to cut it up. As you can imagine it was quite difficult! We finally made it to Barcelona at 10:30 pm and rushed to the hotel so we could have an awesome night out on the town. We got kebabs at the nearest stand and went out to the nearest bar. Ended up having a great night and partied hard... Barcelona style! Had some nice Sangria, a bunch of other stuff and just lived it up.
Now I'm out in Vermont for the US Open, and will be blogging about this event next week. So check back to find out how it went. Thanks and here are some photos for your enjoyment!
