February 10, 2008 - Sunday | Last week.... Hey all….it's been way too long since I've posted a new blog. Last week was a bit bananas and starting tomorrow it will be just as nuts. Last week I was busy with therapy. I just got the okay to get 2 hours of therapy with my therapist instead of just one hour. Thank gawd!! And I'm still fighting with insurance for 3 hours so we'll see.
So besides therapy I had a chance to catch up with some really great people in my life. Early in the week I went to dinner with Bill Lentini. He was one of my basketball coaches when I was in like 5th grade and I just loved him to death. He was a police officer in the city of Brea where I grew up. He and my mom dated a bit and before he retired he had made it to the Chief of Police. He was a big influence in my life and he is just an amazing, funny, and great guy.
On Tuesday I got another great massage from my good friend Christina. On Wednesday it was more therapy and then a visit to see Dr. Nicolas so he could try and fix my right thumb / wrist. Since I'm using my arms and hands so much right now I've somehow got myself in a pickle with a little tendonitis. And when I say tendonitis…it freakin' HURTS! If I'm not wearing the fantastic looking brace he gave me sometimes my thumb will get stuck in a position and I have to take my other hand to put it back into place. Yeah, good times! I'm going to see a hand specialist this upcoming week though so hopefully he can fix it without having to give me a cortisone shot.
On Thursday I went into see a pain specialist because this past week or two has been sooo super gnarly. It has been as bad as it was when I first got to Craig so needless to say it's been sucky. So now this new pain specialist wants to stick needles in my back. Suweet! Oh my gawd…I'm so not stoked on that!! But I guess if it helps then that's a good thing. Then on Friday I got a chance to go to the (country western voice) Pee-Bee-Aahhrr!! Okay, so the PBR stands for Professional Bull Rider and a bunch of us went out to see the Bull Riding Competition. My good friend Leah Garcia who does the commentating for the Jeep KOM series does the commentating for the PBR and their next stop was in Anaheim, CA., which is just down the road from me. Along with my mom, Polly, and her mom Diane my other friends Chad and his wife, Joe Lawwill and his little girl, Shannon and John from TLD, and a guy I hadn't seen in along time…John Davis who used to race downhill in a DH wheelchair. It was quite a show and it was really cool to be able to go back behind the scenes and right where the bulls were and check it out. Those guys make bank! They get like $25,000 a win and they have 32 stops on their tour AND that's not even with sponsor money or bonuses. But I guess if your silly enough to toss your leg over a freakin' bull you outta get paid a ton, right?! Leah also introduced us to a bunch of the cowboys and it was so great to see a bunch of friends who I hadn't seen in along time.
Tonight I got to see my cousin Shannon and my friend Jesse and her baby Hayden. Baby Hayden is such an awesome little kid. She's two and is just too cute. So we just hung out at the house, played with the dog, and baby hayden. It was great to see them and have a relaxing weekend.
This next week is another full week, but I'll try to do better with an update. So hang tight and I'll work on it. So with that said go check out my new pic's and a cute video of baby Hayden using her best Italian.
Cheers! Tara Never Give Up! |
