April 14, 2008 - Monday | Press Releases and BikeSkills Hey all... I'm going to be heading up to Sea Otter in a few days and it should be a good time. I think this will be something like my 12th year at Sea Otter. Crazy huh! So Go211.com and I just put out a press release last week announcing the big auction and raffle that I'll be having. They are going to be "off the chain" as the pipsqueaks like to call it! hehe. So here are some of the auction items... - Eric Carter's 2006 National Championships bike - A John Tomac helmet painted by Troy Lee Designs worth $3,000! - Leigh Donovan's 2001 World Championship bike - Steve Peat signed replica Troy Lee Designs painted helmet - Ned Overed signed jersey and glasses - Brian Lopes winning 98' winning helmet - ohhh and so much more! I consider each and everyone of these pros that participated my friends and I am very lucky to have friends like this. I hope you all can go to www.go211.com/tara and check out some the pieces. All of the proceeds go to the Tara Llanes Road to Recovery Fund. Also, at Sea Otter I will be having a raffle with some really cool things as well. Some Manitou forks, Michelin tires, Smith goggles, Thule bike racks, and an amazing Grand Prize. You'll have to come by the booth (right next to Giant) to see what it is!
One more thing that I want to mention to you is the Maxine Irving BikeSkills clinic for women. Last year I taught some mountain bike clinics at Sea Otter for BikeSkills www.bikeskills.com and they went great. I had 3 packed clinics and all the women had a great time and learned alot along the way. Besides it was a great chance to get away from the boyfriends for a bit and rides with some other really great women. Well, this year at Sea Otter Bikeskills is going to donate the money they make from the womens clinics to my Road to Recovery Fund!! I was so excited when I talked to Rob and he told me what Bikeskills wanted to do. So not only can you sign up and have a great time learning from a great rider, but you can also help a good cause. I hope some of you sign up and learn a ton! I'll try to make my way over there sometime during the clinic.
Tomorrow is a busy day. One of the writers from Access Hollywood (the show that did a story on me a few months ago) and I have stayed in touch since the show aired. Well, he is going to give myself and a few of my friends a tour tomorrow and also show us how the show is made and then we'll watch the taping of it. After that he set us up with VIP tickets to the Ellen show. It should be a pretty fun day.
Oh and another thing. My good friend Jaymie Mart from Scotland is flying over here tomorrow and we'll pick her up tomorrow night after the show. I can't wait to see her! She ran the London Marathon today in my honor. Can you believe that. I mean here's the thing. Jaymie doesn't run! I don't even think she likes it, but she did it to raise money for me and that is truly one of the coolest things anybody has ever done for me. Anyway, I love her to death and can't wait to see her smiling face.
Cheers, tara
