I went in to see a hip specialist last week and he decided that it would be a good idea for me to get more injections. Although these are supposed to be different than the first set I got about a month ago. I'm still not exactly sure how they are different. I dunno...something to do with a dye they put in first. Either way I know there are needles involved which doesn't put me in the greatest mood. But if they help then Praise the Lord!
Yesterday I went down to Project Walk to start my trial week there. The first hour was spent just sort of asking me questions and then the next hour was actually working out. I dunno if it was just because it was the first day, but I left wondering if it was going to get any harder? I have high expectation for this rehab place and for the trainers that train me so if by the end of the week this is the highest level of difficulty then I’ll have to sort something else out. There may even be another option after talking with Ernie (Fonseca) today, but we’ll see.
So I got an email last week letting me know that my Jeep had been shipped and some paperwork was heading my way. So crossed fingers I’ll have it by the end of this week. I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I thought I was going to have it months ago, but I kind of can’t help it!
The Mtb World Champs are in about a week and a half in Italy and I can’t believe I’m not there. I mean I know I wasn’t in Fort William last year, but I was way more incoherent at the time so it’s almost as if these are the first World Champs since I’ve been hurt. It’s been so hard knowing that the race season has started and it already halfway through and I haven’t been to any of them. I hope to someday be back at a World Cup.
I know I haven’t been as on top of it as far as my blogs, pics, or videos are concerned but I’ll work on it as I know it’s easier to get a sense of where I am in my therapy with pics and videos.
Oh and one last thing. This past Sunday Polly and I drove out to Santa Monica to the send-off party for my friend Aaron Baker. I met Aaron at Sea Otter this year and had read about him prior to that. He is a pretty amazing guy. He is a quadriplegic, but is up and walking again. Seeing him gives me so much hope. Anyway, he and his mom Laquita are leaving San Francisco today and riding their bikes all the way to Washington D.C., and along the way they are stopping at hospitals to promote the power of possibility and showcase the benefits of ongoing therapeutic exercise. There is a chance I’ll get to ride with Aaron in mid-August while I’m out at Craig for my 6-month reevaluation and if so I’ll take plenty of pictures. Check out Aaron’s site at www.riseabovetour.com.
Cheers,
