Sittin' in the Sauna (Thu, 11 Sep 2008 Posted at 01:00:00 AM)
I met up with a woman named Alex when I was at the X-Games this past year and she was there working with some of the skaters competing. She mentioned that she'd love to come check out my therapy since she only lived a few miles from Project Walk. So we finally had a chance to meet up and she came over and watched me go through my workout last week. Afterward she said she'd love for me to come over and try some other exercises that would really help. Not only that, but we talked about meds, hyperberic chambers, and infrared saunas. A lot of things that I didn't really know a lot about. Luckily she's taught me about some of this stuff and not only that, but also talked to one of her clients about me coming over to sit in his sauna. Danny Way is a super good skater and also turns out to be a really cool guy. He was going to be in Brazil for a comp, but he said to definitely have me come over and sit in the sauna for a bit. The whole point of it is to have me sweat out all of the toxins that have been building up in my body for months and months. So we drove over and I sat in the 120 degree sauna for about 20 minutes and sweated my ass off! It was tough at first to get used to the heat, which it shouldn't have been since it's been that hot here at home but it was still tough. Once I got used to it though it was over before I knew it and I felt good yet exhausted after. I'm meeting up with Alex again on Friday to go sit in the sauna again. Next up...hyperbaric chambers! Till' next time! tara
