One Win Choice- Define/Redefine (Jump Start Rec)
New Jersey is never one to disappoint in the area of hardcore. There's a good chance some of your favorite hardcore bands came from there, as does a good chunk of my own record collection. Must have something to do with being near the heavier NYHC scene and not far from the more serene, harmonic indie bands in PA.
Following a solid debut LP ('Never Suspend Disbelief'), these 5 guys from Tom's River, NJ continue with the time honored formula of melodic hardcore, polishing their songwriting, and maintaining their explosive, ebullient hardcore roots. The voice is in the more screechy, throaty vein so common in hardcore, while the music is punchy, upbeat and catchy.
These 5 songs are packed with a fiery energy and DIY spirit- something the current hardcore scene is in dire lack of. And while No Win Choice may not exactly be forging new ground, but they do a damn good job of rewriting hardcore's past, injecting passion and integrity back into the genre.
The 7" format of this release comes with a free digital download with 2 extra songs. The CD Ep has 5 songs- 3 from the 7" + the two in the digital download.
