Annabel- Each And Everyone (Count Your Lucky Stars Rec)
Indie rock stalwarts from Kent, Ohio, Annabel follow up their critically acclaimed EP with a debut full length on the young Count Your Lucky Stars label. Kent being historically a hot bed of indie rock talent (Harriet The Spy, Party Of Helicopters, etc.), Annabel are leaving an indelible mark with every new listener to cross their path.
I pretty much knew I was going to love this before I even put it in; the press sheet and packaging more or less screamed 'textured, melodic, pensive indie rock', the type of sound i've always had a penchant for though don't hear very often anymore.
Turns out not only is this amazing, it's an instant infatuation, the sort of disc that takes roughly 30 seconds to fall hopelessly enamored with, the same feeling you got when you first heard the Texas Is The Reason LP.
'Each and Everyone' is 40+ minutes of driving, infectious, melodic ear candy, radiating with beauty, unique song structures and meticulous song writing. I hear traces of some of indie rocks best in here (e.g. Sunny Day Real Estate, The Shins, Braid, Copeland), though Annabel really have a charm all their own and merely bare a resemblance to the aforementioned bands.
Keep an ear out for these guys- they could very well be the next big thing to rise out from the world of independent music...
