Driving On City Sidewalks- Where Angels Crowd To Listen (Count Your Lucky Stars Rec)
Debut 5 song EP from an Ontario, Canada duo who put a different spin on the standard emotive post rock, burying melody in driving and dynamic long songs of gentle beauty, painting a landscape of serenity and soothing music.
Where Angels Crowd To Listen is 30 minutes of building, atmospheric emotive rock- soaring music with texture and sophistication, some of which bears a strong resemblance to Mineral's 'End Serenading' or later period Appleseed Cast. An acoustic song and female vocals add some interesting and well executed changes, and two instrumentals ala Explosions In The Sky finish out the disc.
Though some of the songs here meander on for a bit too long, overall this is a great listen and impressive starting point for Driving On City Sidewalks. Fans of Sigur Ros or any of the aforementioned bands need to give this disc a home.
