Carcrashlander- Mountains On Our Backs (Jealous Butcher Rec)
Most bands take weeks, months, sometimes years to record a full length. Constant rewriting, overdubs, repeated takes, etc. Sure, sometimes it's worth the time; I read when Jawbreaker recorded Dear You Adam and Chris did their tracks in 2 days. Blake, however, spent weeks doing and redoing the guitars. You can't deny the guitars on that disc are amazing.
Carcrashlander, however, took an entirely different route and recorded this in one day. ONE DAY- wow. Think of what you can get done in a day. Clean your garage, rake your lawn, maybe go to the gym and get a jog in. That would be a productive day. These guys record an entire CD in a day. Pretty incredible...

Constantly moving from loud to soft, hypnotic to focused, droning to vibrant, Carcrashlander are consistently changing the mood and tone throughout this disc. There is no doubt there is a lot of meticulous instrumentation here- illustrated in the unorthodox melodic twists everywhere- but it works quite well and leaves the record with a very spontaneous feel to it, almost as if some of it was improvised during the recording.
In a time when most bands merely sound like inferior replicas of yesteryears 'next big thing' it's refreshing to hear something so innovative and interesting...
