North Lincoln- Midwestern Blood (No Idea Rec)
Long time Grand Rapids, Michigan punks North Lincoln are back, proving there is still plenty of room in the world for their melodic, harder edged blue collar punk rock ten years after they first started honing the sound.
Though No Idea has had plenty of bands of all genres on their roster, North Lincoln may typify a 'No Idea' sound with their blazing mid tempo rock anthems, filled with gruffly sung/shouted vocals, and catchy harmonies. Somewhere between Jawbreaker, Samiam, Leatherface and Hot Water Music, North Lincoln is the type of band who make basement shows some of the best venues to see punk rock.
'Midwestern Blood' seems like an aptly titled record for North Lincoln. These guys live and breathe midwestern punk/hardcore life and there is no doubt in my mind after another ten years have passed they'll still be crisscrossing the country in a van playing music in some form or another in small clubs and basements full of kids searching for that perfect blend of melodic urgency coupled with driving, hard hitting rock n roll.
