Not to be confused with Minneapolis rockers The Owls or the post- Capn Jazz outifit Owls, Owl is an LA based rock band who have been making huge waves in their hometown and feature members of The Cult, The Clay People and Your Horrible Smile. Self described as the music they've been wanting to make their whole lives, Owl's debut breaks away from the status quo of increasingly stale modern rock.
Taking influences from all over the rock spectrum, Owl builds off a prog rock foundation, mixing roaring guitars, tribal like drumming and a fantasy like backdrop giving this an overall psychedelic feeling.
Though Owl are fully capable of being eclectic as well; an ethereal balled makes an appearance, as does some art rock ala Pink Floyd and plenty of classic rock traces linger throughout the disc, taking nods at luminaries like Zeppelin and Hendrix.
A very accomplished and unique debut, Owl, with their unusual brand of introspective and meticulously composed prog rock, have officially thrown their hat in the ring as one of the most interesting rock bands out there.
