Deerhunter- Rainwater Cassette Exchange
Deerhunter may still be an obscure outfit in the grand scheme of things, but these Atlanta youngsters are paving a solid road with their unique brand of shoegaze indie pop.
Putting out records like clockwork, Rainwater Cassette Exchange is coming off the widely appraised 'Microcastle EP' as well as slew of other EPs and LP's as well. With only 5 songs in just over 15 minutes, these guys tear through psych-pop to all out garage pop with plenty of lo-fi and beatles-esque sensibilities along the way.
A beautiful collision of noise and melody, Deerhunter build surreal landscapes of dreamy, harmonic noise. The guitars are layered, the vocals hushed, the mood haunting. They alternately switch between light and dark, quiet and loud, cryptic to straightforward.
Truly defying comparison, if you combined My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, The Pixies and Deftones it might sound something like Deerhunter
