Gogol Bordello- Live From The Axis (Sideone Dummy Rec)
World reknowned gypsy punk powerhouse Gogol Bordello are delivering the ultimate package for their world wide fan base on October 6 with a CD + DVD.
Filmed in 2007 at two sold out shows at the Irving Plaza in New York, the DVD portion entails some of the bands most recognized songs. The CD collects previously unreleased songs and different versions, including six songs from their BBC sessions.
Born out of front man Eugene Hutz's immigrant experiences in the Ukraine, Hutz moved around Eastern Europe before settling into New York in the late 90's and starting Gogol Bordello. Since then, the band has picked up global appreciation with their theatrical shows (often in costumes) with accordions, violins and a good mix of punk and dub.
After a handful of records, singles and appearances on late night talk shows (see their David Letterman appearance below), this is a perfect time to drop a gift like this for long time fans. First time listeners will have find this beyond entertaining too; Gogol Bordello's music is about as eclectic, animated and rowdy as it gets and the live show mimics that. Trust me, you've never seen anything like this before...
