Esprit De Corps- Under Constant Influence (self released)
Denver DIY rockers Esprit De Corps self released EP 'Under Constant Influence' is slated for release on October 20th. Never having been a city short of talented independent music (Only Thunder, Git Some, Drag The River, etc.), Esprit De Corps are throwing their hat in the ring as one of Colorado's and the countries most up and coming bands.
A quick offering, these 5 songs pump out melodic, empassioned, radiant emotive/punk, the sort of music that is reminiscent of stalwards like Small Brown Bike, Planes Mistaken For Stars or Song Of Zarathustra. Call it post-rock, post-punk, emotive hardcore or whatever new label is popular this month; first and foremost this is driving, moody, dynamic rock that lies comfortably between tuneful and chaotic, rough and subtle beauty.
French for 'spirit of the body', Esprit De Corps literally means the enthusiasm or devotion that members of a group have toward the group as a whole. Perhaps one of the most aptly named bands ever, this idea clearly applies to the bands loyalty to both their music and the DIY underground scene they are so heavily involved in. The passion and sincerity Esprit De Corps put forth in their music is evident from the first chord struck, finding the perfect balance between melody and power, pushing and pulling with textured rhythms and an immediacy and pulls the listener in instantly.
