Rubblebucket- Rubblebucket (Self Released)
Coming off a very well received debut full length last year ('Rose's Dream'), Boston and Brooklyn up and comers Rubblebucket return with a follow up on October 13, solidifying their position as one of the best bands coming out of the east coast right now.
With 9 members in this band, Rubblebucket play a unique and genre defying brand of polyrhythmic dance/rock, successfully taking nods at funk while maintaining a youthful, exhilarating rock sound and soulful vocals from Kalmia Traver. The songs build up quickly, the horns often sweeping in, as the rest of the players add their own touches on accomplished and intricate gems that seem far too polished for a band of just two years.
A beautiful display of african rhythm influences with lots of genre borrowing all over the map, Rubblebucket are more an experience than merely just music. Not just meant to entertain, this is the sort of disc you really need to sit down and absorb; deep and cathartic, this is an eclectic and highly interesting listen.
