I went home to NJ this week to see my parents. My original half pipe which I constructed in 1990 is still standing there. Now it is reduced to some kind of wood storage shed for my dad. It’s hurting-holes in it, rotten wood, etc. It felt good being up on the deck again. I was trying to remember all the good times I had on this. One story that I still remember so clearly was Joe Rich doing a big 540 on it and carving off the side! He had a front peg on so he landed in a smith stall on the side of the transition. It bent his fork leg up at a 90 degree angle and snapped everything else. It broke his fall enough to let him walk away from it unscathed. Another time I remember taking a break from riding and Jeff Crawn was catching these huge black water snakes around the pond. On one of his catches the snake jumped in the water and went under. He grabbed a 10’ stick nearby and plunged it in the water and flicked this huge snake out which he then went and picked up. He was nuts! So many good times so many faces came here…. Joe Rich, Chris Hallman, Mel Cody, Keith Gower, Ron Kimler, Taj Mihelich, Nate Wessel, Ralph Sinisi to name a few.
