Vermont Welcomes You
I have spent over a week here in the east coast and have some how managed not to write about my beloved Vermont. In that short week we have had no less than two days of rain, two days of sleet, two days of face pelting ice pellets, a contest shutting down fog, and a few warm sunshiney days. aaaaah Vermont, gotta love it, or else you end up bitching up a storm like the my western snowboarding friends, don't want to name names here but a certain Steve Fisher, Matt Ladley and Clair Bidez were most definitely voicing their anti east coast sentiment today along with a certain Ricky Bower. But what do these candy asses know about heart and soul snowboarding, sure they high five all day long on epic blue bird pow days on mountains with actual natural terrain but who can't see the beauty in that? It's a true test of everything shred to see if you can still high five your friends after an epic day of shredding boiler plate flatness underneath a steal gray sky pissing a combination of sleet and snow while sopping wet and wearing a black garbage bag, that's heart and soul. Trust me I get the whole jaded thing, I have spent enough time here in the east to have packed my bags and moved west but I still love the grittyness of Vermont and have an overwhelming sense of nostalgia every time I come here. Can you blame me? Vermont is the place that changed my life and shaped my future, 20 years ago I was standing on the side lines of the US Open watching Tara Eberhard, Andy Coghlan, Suzi Rueck and the rest of the early snowboarding pioneers compete in the US Open and I was so inspired by the whole thing that I decided then and there that I would become a snowboarder blahditty blah blah blah the rest is history or something like that.

My third apperance at the US Open when I was a fat farm girl with brown hair.
The following year I dropped into my first US Open and now I am getting ready to drop into my 19th Open, which is a staggering number really when you look at the majority of the riders and realize they are somewhere around that age or younger. Insanity, really but yeah........Vermont, I love Vermont and am stoked to be here rain or shine, I can live without the sandy pelts of icy hell that fell from the sky today but rain or shine is okay with me....... xoxoxo tricia.
