Wednesday. Today was a beautiful day for all the events. The High Cascade Rail Jam kicked off today with heats all day. Riders were tossed bandanas as the rode to signal they were in the finals. There was a serious tail block session and the HCSC Boom Box was rockin all afternoon.
Open class girls and guys competed in half pipe today and the airs were huge even from the base. PacSun/USASA athlete Kaitlyn Farrington won half pipe open class today, securing herself an invitation to the PacSun team for another year. She was joined on the podium by Kelly Marren of Squaw Valley Snowboard Team and Elizabeth Beerman, a fellow PacSun rider, out of Weston, VT.
Youth Men rider Jye Kearney KILLED IT today in slopestyle stomping his run. There was a lot of carnage on the course, but no serious injuries.
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club rocked the boardercross, taking first, second and fourth in Youth Women.
The adaptive crew took on Slalom today with the Ruggie Girls and boys and Legend and Kahuna men and women.
Yesterday was gaper day here at Copper, and a whole heard of gapers invaded the spectator area buttering and jibbing everything. Way fun. The Youth Men group is killer this year and is as exciting to watch as open class. We're seeing a lot of old school tricks back bringing up the style level.
We’ve been getting a bunch of coverage on local area news outlets. Check it out!
