snowboarding since 1987, i started in the days of no edges and minimal resort acceptance and have grown with the sport for twenty years. growing up on the east coast i was influenced by contests and the early east coast freestyle heroes like jeff brushie, todd richards, and jason ford. i spent thirteen years riding halfpipe and was part of a strong generation of east coast pipe riders like ross powers and kier dillon, who went on to travel the world and help push the progression of halfpipe riding. i was always an all around rider and spent my time between pipe, freeriding, and later discovered boardercross while at the 98 x-games. i have gone on to be an eight time x-games medalist, 3 time u.s. champion, world champion, 2 time vice-world champion, 3 time mt. baker banked slalom silver duct tape winner, and the 2006 olympic gold medalist in snowboardcross. though competitions have been a major influence on my riding career, i first visited the chugach mtn. range in alaska in 2003 and have been making yearly pilgrimages there every year since. big mtn. freeriding is where my soul is in this sport and my search for powder is the major focus behind my winters.
growing up in maine i discovered early, the joys of nature and ways to play with our common mother. that base created within me dreams that i have been following around the world for a decade now. through snowboarding i have been fortunate to experience many cultures, countries, people, and beautiful landscapes.. the last year of my life got consumed by a conquest mission for the olympics and it worked so all has turned into a whirlwind.. however somethings never change and the winter is coming so its time to chase snow, surf whenever its there. and enjoy frosty beverages at the rack when i am home in maine! to follow my adventures check out sethwescott.com
